Our inpatient unit strives to provide treatment based on dignity and respect for the individual client and we assist each client in developing a personal recovery plan that incorporates a variety of skills and strategies that are taught as part of the program. To achieve this goal, Prairie Ridge inpatients uses the following evidence-based programming:

1. MATRIX: the MATRIX program is presented in a group format and focuses on relapse prevention and early recovery skills, including recognition of triggers and cues, strategies for managing cravings and urges, and healthy alternative activities.

2. DIALECTICAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY: DBT is presented in a combination of individual and group sessions. DBT focuses on development of skills related to mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation and distress tolerance, with a focus on how effective use of these skills can support the client's personal recovery plan.

3. 12-Step PROGRAMMING: 12-step programming is offered on a daily basis and focuses on assisting clients with identifying key components of a 12 -step approach to recovery. Clients have access to daily AA/NA meetings on site, as well as opportunities to participate in 12-step programming off-site. Big Book studies are available during the week and are facilitated by a member of the AA community. Although strongly encouraged, AA and NA participation is not required.

4. Adventure-Based Therapy: This group uses adventure-based portable challenges to foster communication, trust, problem-solving, team building, and group cohesion.

5. PEER MENTORING: This a non twelve-step based peer support meeting, led by a mentor, who demonstrates knowledge in the Matrix Model Curriculum. This meeting is open to any active client of Prairie Ridge (both Residential/Outpatient). This is an open process meeting in which topics can be related back to the Matrix Model Curriculum to include discussion of Early Recovery Skills and Relapse Prevention Skills. The goal of this meeting is to create a supportive environment for all clients and to increase sober support.

6. EDUCATION: Education services include speakers and/or information from the fields of public health, consumer credit, nutrition and wellness facilities, gambling services, the neuroscience of addiction, dealing with stigma, and clients also have the opportunity to listen to the personal stories of individuals in recovery.

The inpatient program averages 28 days in length and is focused on skill acquisition. Programming consists of a minimum of 50 therapeutic hours per week.

Residential Adult Services:

Prairie Ridge provides a clinically-managed high-intensity residential program for adult men and women. Clients must complete an intake/assessment prior to admission and the assessment must document that the client meets American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM)criteria for this level of care.
